About
My name is Tomoya Takano, currently PhD student at the Tohoku University, Japan.
My research focus on understanding dynamic processes of the Earth’s structure by analyzing seismic data. I am particularly interested in temporal changes of elastic properties in the crust, i.e., how does the crust respond to stress perturbations (e.g. earthquakes, volcano deformations by magma pressure, tides, rainfall)?
Currently, I investigate characteristics of stress sensitivities of seismic velocity changes by using tides and magma pressures. Seismic velocity changes caused by these loading provide a natural experiment to understand crustal dynamics.
My study about seismic velocity changes related with volcanic activities can be found in the EOS Spotlight.
